Civil Terrorism Law focuses on the law and practice of litigating claims of victims of international terrorism. The authors discuss the major landmark cases which involve the attempts of American victims to obtain justice through the U.S. legal system. It explains applicable federal statutes including the Alien Tort Claims Act of 1789, the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1990 ("the Klinghoffer Act"), the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act, the Flatow Amendment, Terrorism Risk Insurance Act and others. The authors demonstrate the many differences between civil terrorism litigation, in which virtually all defendants are either rogue state sponsors of terrorism or designated terrorist organizations, and more common tort litigation which typically attempts to balance the conflicting claims of litigants.
The authors have provided a comprehensive text on the subject and include chapters on sovereign immunity, damages, subject matter and personal jurisdiction, policy concerns, the role of the U.S. government in terrorism cases, proving liability, defenses, financial support cases, satisfying terrorism judgments, discovery and practical concerns.

This is the true story of the shocking murder of David Brian Stidham, a husband, father, doctor, and friend. He lived a comfortable and happy life in Tucson, Arizona, relocating for the prospect of a new job as a pediatric opthalmologist with associate Bradley Schwartz. That relationship quickly soured when Brian branched off into his own pediatric practice. Brad festered a zealous hatred and animosity toward his ex-colleague.
On October 5, 2004, he was brutally murdered in the parking lot of his medical complex. The murder rocked Tucson, a city that-even though it claims almost 1 million residents-still has the feel of a sleepy desert town. The case dominated the headlines and even grabbed national attention.
A.J. Flick, the Tucson Citizen reporter who covered the entire case, leads you through all the tangled webs, fateful encounters, and complex plot twists, culminating in its final conclusion.
"No one but journalist A.J. Flick has a thorough grip on the Stidham/Schwartz case details, from the serious legal issues and grisly details to how they dressed to argue the case and the behind-the-scenes of the strategizing. And she parlays it in a prose style that fits the unique nature of this case." Michael Chihak
Editor, Tucson Citizen
